Suze Allen is a writer, playwright, actor, teacher, dramaturge and director with credits on both coasts. Her work has been on stage at Brava! For Women in the Arts, The Marsh, Noh Space, Intersection for the Arts, The Climate, The Phoenix Theatre, Portland Stage Company, Out North Alaska, Mad Horse Theatre and the SF and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.
Suze is the creator of Mama-logues - Writing Workouts to Keep Mama Sane and Centered, The Maine Playwrights’ Lab and Short Works Festival, Fresh! New Works, as well as resident Dramaturge for The Playwrights’ Center of San Francisco. Her show, The Manic Mama Dance, premiered at the Marsh Café and played BirthFest 2008 on Labor Day. She’s been a staff writer for sfkids.org and Interaction Associates in San Francisco. Her company, Manuscript Mentor, helps clients turn dreams and ideas into effective, vibrant writing.
Most recently, Suze was the writing assistant for Dr. Cassandra Vieten on her book proposal and subsequent book, Mindful Motherhood: Practical Tools for Staying Sane During Your Pregnancy and Your Baby’s First Year published by New Harbinger and Noetics Books. Suze’s own book, The Time-Starved Women’s Guide to Emotional Wellbeing, with Dr. SD Shanti of Woman-to-Woman International is out on Mother’s Day, 2009. She’s a two-time homebirth Mama and lives in San Francisco with her husband and children.
